ShadowPlay Press is a small, independent press devoted to the publication of unique books that will be of high interest to young people of ages 7-13. Many of the titles are suitable to be read aloud.      Named for the ancient form of storytelling that employs shadows of puppets cast upon a screen, ShadowPlay Press was founded in 1995. We specialize in children's fiction that is thought-provoking as well as entertaining.

     We also distribute books by our authors that have been published by the large, mainstream press. Sheila Kelly Welch is the author of many children’s stories that have been published in Cricket, Ladybug, Spider, Children’s Playmate, and numerous other magazines.      Leone Castell Anderson’s most recent book is Sean’s War, an exciting tale of a boy confronted with difficult choices during the Black Hawk War in northwestern Illinois. This book has been used in class by teachers to interest their students in Illinois history and is a wonderful addition to any multicultural classroom. A Teacher’s Guide is also available.
