ShadowPlay Press is a small, independent press devoted to the publication of unique books that will be of high interest to young people ages 7-13. Many of the titles are suitable to be read aloud.  Named for the ancient form of storytelling that employs shadows of puppets cast upon a screen, ShadowPlay Press was founded in 1995. We specialize in children's fiction that is thought-provoking as well as entertaining.

     We also distribute books by our authors that have been published by the large, mainstream press. Sheila Kelly Welch is the author of many children's stories that have been published in Cricket, Ladybug, Spider, Children's Playmate, and numerous other magazines. She also illustrates  many of her stories and books. She did the interior illustrations for Sean's War and Sean's Quest and wrote and illustrated Land of Another Sun.

     Leone Castell Anderson's most recent book is Sean's Quest, the sequel to Sean's War, an exciting tale of a boy confronted with difficult choices during the Black Hawk War in northwestern Illinois. This book has been used by teachers to help interest their students in Illinois history. A teacher's guide is available for Sean's War, Sean's Quest and Land of Another Sun.
