Description:

Marsha is an only child, so she's excited when she learns that her parents are planning to adopt a little girl.  But when Wendy arrives as a foster child, she proves to be very different from the sister Marsha imagined.  Wendy is developmentally delayed and acts much younger than her eight years.  From a screaming tantrum in a restaurant to wild behavior on the school bus, Wendy creates havoc in Marsha's life.  When it comes time to make a decision about whether Wendy will remain in their family, forever,  Marsha has to face her own feelings head on.

This is what others have said about DON'T CALL ME MARDA.

RECOVERY TIMES
"Written from Marsha's point of view, this charming story accurately reflects the adoption process and the feelings of those involved."

ADOPTIVE FAMILIES
"The book has all the elements that would make a pre-teen girl want to read it: horses, Barbie dolls, boys, best friends, and wanting to grow up yet not wanting to."

SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL
" . . . Marsha's emotions and reactions are typical and understandable.  Pleasing black-and-white drawings begin each of the 21 chapters."
